How Faulkner County property taxes are calculated
Arkansas assesses real property at 20% of market value. Faulkner County multiplies that assessed value by the total millage for the parcel's school district and city, where a mill is $1 per $1,000 of assessed value. As elsewhere in Arkansas, the tax is billed one year behind the assessment: the county explains it plainly, noting that taxes assessed in one year are collected on or before October 15 of the following year.
Work through a $250,000 home in Conway inside the Conway #1 district, at 50.6 mills for 2026 collections:
- $250,000 market value times 20% equals $50,000 assessed value.
- $50,000 times 50.6 divided by 1,000 equals $2,530 tax before credit.
- Subtract the $600 homestead credit to reach $1,930 estimated annual tax.
Move the same house into rural Quitman at 44.3 mills and the tax before credit drops to $2,215, or $1,615 after the credit. That is a $315 swing on an identical house value, and it is entirely a school district effect, because Faulkner County's own levy does not change from parcel to parcel.
Faulkner County millage rates by district and city
Every row is a published Faulkner County taxing combination for 2026 collections. The county column is 8.3 mills throughout, so a difference between two rows is always the school district, the city, or both.

Why Faulkner County rates differ from address to address
Because the county levy is fixed at 8.3 mills, only two things move a Faulkner County rate: which school district serves the parcel, and whether the parcel sits inside a city that levies its own tax. Four examples from the 2026 collections table above:
- Holland pays no city millage at all. A Holland address in the Conway #1 district pays 46.4 mills, and in the Greenbrier #47 district 48.8 mills, because Holland levies zero. A Greenbrier city address in the Greenbrier district pays 53.8 mills instead. That is 5.0 mills that exists purely because of the city.
- Conway appears in six different rows. A Conway mailing address lands at 50.6 mills in the Conway district, 53.0 mills in the Greenbrier district, or in a rural tier. The same city name appears with three different rates.
- Twin Groves sits in three school districts: Greenbrier at 53.2 mills, Guy Perkins at 54.7 mills and Southside at 51.3 mills, all with the same 4.4 mill city levy. The 3.4 mill difference between the lowest and highest is entirely the school district.
- Quitman is the lowest rate in the county. Rural Quitman at 44.3 mills is the floor, and the city of Quitman at 48.3 mills is still below most of the county. The Quitman school district levies only 36.0 mills, the lowest school levy in Faulkner County.
Faulkner County also carries several volunteer millages that sit outside the adopted totals and can appear on a bill: 1.0 mill for the emergency squad, conservation district and museum, and 1.5 mills for animal welfare and control, plus 1.0 mill voluntary tax for the City of Conway and 0.7 mills for the City of Vilonia. School district lines also cross county lines in several directions here: Greenbrier reaches into Conway County, Mount Vernon Enola into White County, and Quitman, Rose Bud and South Side all reach in from neighboring counties.
Conway, Greenbrier, Vilonia and the rest of Faulkner County
Conway
Conway is the county seat and the largest city, and it holds both the assessor and the collector at 806 Faulkner Street. The city levies 4.2 mills, made up of 3.0 general, 0.4 fire, 0.4 police and 0.4 library. Conway addresses appear in the Conway, Greenbrier and Southside district rows, which is the single most common source of confusion in this county. Conway is also home to three colleges, which is unusual for a county of this size and part of why rental and investment property questions come up often here.
Greenbrier
Greenbrier city levies 5.0 mills, the highest city levy in Faulkner County, and sits in the Greenbrier #47 district at 40.5 school mills for an overall 53.8. The collector opened a second office in Greenbrier at 89 N Broadview St. with hours of 7:30 a. m. to 5:00 p. m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a. m. to noon Friday, which differs from the Conway office.
Vilonia and Mayflower
Both levy 3.0 and 4.0 city mills respectively. Vilonia pays 51.0 mills in the Vilonia #17 district, and Mayflower pays 52.4 mills in the Mayflower #78 district. Vilonia also carries a 0.7 mill voluntary tax that is separate from the adopted millage.
Twin Groves, Guy, Damascus, Wooster and Enola
These smaller communities show how much school district lines matter. Twin Groves is split across three districts at 51.3, 53.2 and 54.7 mills. Guy pays 54.3 mills in Guy Perkins but 50.9 mills in Southside. Damascus sits only in Southside at 51.9 mills, Wooster only in Greenbrier at 51.8 mills, and Enola only in Mount Vernon Enola at 51.3 mills.
The calculator applies Arkansas's 20% assessment ratio to your market value and subtracts the homestead credit if you qualify. It does not model Amendment 79 caps or your parcel's own district mix, so treat the result as a starting point.
Faulkner County Assessor
Official name: Faulkner County Assessor's Office. Assessor: Krissy Lewis. The assessor values property, maintains real estate records, handles commercial and personal property assessment, and administers the homestead credit. The office does not handle payments or billing questions.
One county-specific limitation worth knowing before you spend a trip: Faulkner County does not conduct interior inspections. Measurements come from the exterior of the structure and are for tax purposes only, so they are not precise and are not a substitute for a fee appraisal. Commercial personal property also cannot be assessed by phone, and those forms must be signed.

Two practical notes that come up often here: the county is working through a reappraisal cycle that completes in 2028, and the Greenbrier collector office keeps different hours from the Conway office.
Faulkner County Collector
Official name: Faulkner County Collector's Office. Collector: Sherry Koonce. The collector bills and collects personal and real property tax. Tax statement questions go here, and the assessor's own page redirects statement inquiries to the collector.

How to look up a Faulkner County parcel and its tax
Faulkner County names its two online systems explicitly on the assessor's page: ARCountyData and actDataScout. The county also notes something worth planning around, that the online records are updated on a monthly basis. If you filed a deed or completed new construction recently, the change may not appear yet.
- Open the actDataScout real property search for Faulkner County, or the ARCountyData index, and look the parcel up by parcel number, owner name or address.
- Read the market value and assessed value on the record. Arkansas assessed value is 20% of market value.
- Identify the school district and the city or area on the record, then match it to the row in the millage table above. In this county the county millage is always 8.3, so you are looking for the school and city figures.
- Move to the actDataScout Tax Collector module and search the same parcel to see the current amount due and the payment history.
- If the online record looks wrong or out of date, the real estate department keeps public access computers and can be reached at (501) 450-4905.

Paying Faulkner County property taxes
The collector's tax books open for payment on the first business day of March and run through October 15 without penalty. Statements are mailed in the spring, and the county asks you to call if yours has not arrived by July 1.
Payment methods published by the collector
- Online: the actDataScout Faulkner County tax collector payment service.
- In person: the Faulkner County Courthouse between 8:00 a. m. and 4:30 p. m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays and posted closures, or at the Greenbrier office during its own hours.
- By mail: to the address printed on the statement. Mailed assessments must be postmarked no later than May 31.
Two county-specific rules matter here. First, Arkansas law requires personal property taxes to be collected with or before real estate taxes, and the county states it cannot accept a real estate tax payment electronically until any personal property tax has been paid, so a long-forgotten vehicle assessment can block an online real estate payment. Second, the delinquency structure is a 10% penalty on both personal property and real estate paid after October 15, plus 10% annual interest on real estate. The collector notes a credit card fee applies without publishing the amount. Statewide detail is in Arkansas property tax due dates.

Homestead credit in Faulkner County
The homestead credit reduces property tax on a qualifying primary residence. In Faulkner County it is administered by the Assessor's Office, which publishes an application in both English and Spanish.
The calculator on this page models a 2026 bill, so it uses $600. The $675 figure applies to assessment year 2026 and shows up on bills in 2027. Apply once and you do not reapply each year, but you do need to reapply if you move. Owners who are 65 or older or totally disabled may qualify for an additional freeze on the taxable value of the residence. Note that Faulkner County's own downloadable homestead letter still prints an older $425 figure in its body text, so use the amounts above rather than the form letter. Full filing steps: how to apply for the Arkansas homestead credit.
A separate exemption exists for veterans: disabled American veterans rated 100% totally and permanently service-connected disabled are entitled to a tax exemption, and the collector's office handles those questions at (501) 450-4921.

Appealing a Faulkner County assessment
Applications for adjustment go to the secretary of the county Board of Equalization, which in Faulkner County is the County Clerk. The statutory deadline is the third Monday in August, and the appeal window opens as early as July 1.
Faulkner County publishes a Board of Equalization roster with member names and term end dates, which is rare. The board is drawn from several appointing bodies, including one member appointed by the school districts, one by the cities and towns, one by the Quorum Court, and one by the County Judge.
One sequencing point is worth acting on because it is easy to get wrong: file the appeal with the Board rather than waiting on an informal meeting with the assessor. An appraisal conversation can run past the third Monday in August, and missing that date means waiting another year. If the assessor's office resolves your concern first, you can cancel the Board appointment.
If the Board's decision does not satisfy you, the next step is the County Court, where a petition must be filed by the second Monday in October. Individual owners may file their own petition; a corporation or LLC must be represented by a licensed Arkansas attorney.

Faulkner County property tax examples
These use the Faulkner County average of 50.19 mills for 2026 collections with the $600 homestead credit. Your parcel uses its own district combination, so treat these as planning figures.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| $100,000 | $20,000 | $1,004 | $404 | $33.65 |
| $150,000 | $30,000 | $1,506 | $906 | $75.48 |
| $233,000 | $46,600 | $2,339 | $1,739 | $144.90 |
| $250,000 | $50,000 | $2,510 | $1,910 | $159.13 |
| $500,000 | $100,000 | $5,019 | $4,419 | $368.25 |

Faulkner County median home value and median tax
Historical and statistical comparison only. This is not a calculator input and it does not describe your parcel.
Faulkner County's median home value has risen steeply across recent survey vintages, so an undated figure is misleading here. The surveyed median tax of $1,253 sits below what the county average millage applied to the median home value would imply, which is consistent with Amendment 79 caps and with a large share of the county sitting in the lower-rate Conway #1 district at 38.1 school mills.
