How White County property taxes are calculated

Arkansas taxes real property at 20 percent of market value. White County multiplies the assessed value by the millage for the parcel's school district and city, where a mill is $1 per $1,000 of assessed value. White's published combinations run 39.8 to 49.1 mills for 2026 collections, so location inside the county moves the result more than the value does at the margin. The arithmetic in full is in how property tax is calculated in Arkansas.

A $250,000 home in Judsonia inside the White County Central district illustrates the spread. That district and city combination carries 46.1 mills:

  1. $250,000 times 20 percent equals $50,000 assessed value.
  2. $50,000 times 46.1 divided by 1,000 equals $2,305 tax before credit.
  3. After the $600 homestead credit the estimate is $1,705 per year.

The same house across Judsonia inside the Riverview district pays 42.0 mills, or $2,100 before credit and $1,500 after. That is $205 a year inside one town, which is the pattern to check before budgeting.

White County millage rates by district and city

Each row is a taxing combination published for White County for 2026 collections. White has ten school districts and sixteen millage-levying cities, and its county levy is the same 4.1 mills everywhere, so the school and city columns drive the spread. Compare the county against the statewide list at Arkansas millage rates by county.

Rows taken from the Arkansas DFA Assessment Coordination Division 2025 Millage Report, covering 2026 collections and issued March 2026. The report lists 28 taxing combinations for White County.

Why White County rates differ by address

  • Judsonia spans two districts. A Judsonia address pays 46.1 mills inside White County Central and 42.0 mills inside Riverview, a 4.1 mill spread inside one town. The city levy is 1.9 mills on both rows, so the school district does all of the work.
  • Searcy carries the county's smallest city levy. Searcy adds 0.8 mills, split 0.4 police and 0.4 fire, so a Searcy address pays 40.9 mills in Riverview and 40.6 in the Searcy Special district, the lowest combinations in White County.
  • Pangburn tops the table. Pangburn's 3.6 mill city levy sits on a 41.4 mill school rate for 49.1 mills, the highest published combination in the county.
  • School rates swing widely. Searcy Special carries 35.7 school mills against Midland's 42.0, before any city tax is added.

Several districts cross county lines. The state report shows Beebe reaching into Lonoke and Prairie counties, Pangburn and Rose Bud reaching into Cleburne, Midland coming in from Independence, and Mount Vernon Enola coming in from Faulkner. Across White County, 9.3 mills separate the cheapest and dearest combinations. The 2026 county rate comparison shows where White sits statewide.

Searcy, Beebe, Judsonia and the rest of White County

Searcy

Searcy is the county seat and the location of both tax offices: the assessor at 119 West Arch and the collector at 115 West Arch Avenue. City tax is just 0.8 mills, the lowest in White County, so a Searcy address lands at 40.9 mills in Riverview or 40.6 mills in the Searcy Special district.

Beebe and McRae

Beebe's city levy is 1.8 mills for 42.5 mills inside the Beebe district. McRae, whose school district consolidated into Beebe, carries the highest city levy in the county at 5 mills, for 45.7 mills on the Beebe school rate.

Judsonia

Judsonia demonstrates the district effect: 46.1 mills inside White County Central against 42.0 inside Riverview, even though both rows carry the same 1.9 mill city levy.

Bald Knob, Kensett and the rest

Bald Knob pays 45.6 mills in its own district. Kensett adds a 5 mill city levy to the Riverview rate for 45.1 mills. Pangburn at 49.1 and Higginson at 43.05 round out the bands, and Georgetown's 3.97 mill city levy produces 44.07 mills.

White County Assessor

The White County Assessor's Office values property, maintains the real estate and personal property records, and handles homestead applications and senior freezes. Personal property, from vehicles to business equipment, must be assessed between January 1 and May 31 each year, and a 10 percent late assessment penalty applies after May 31.

The assessor's page says all real property is reappraised on a five-year cycle, with White County moving to a four-year reappraisal cycle beginning January 1, 2027, under contract with Total Assessment Solutions Corporation since 2015. The statewide assessor directory lists White County alongside every other county.

White County Collector

The White County Collector's Office bills and collects taxes and does not set values. White County runs an unusually wide set of payment options, and the collector has posted that the office can no longer accept a postmark date, so mail payments need to arrive before the deadline.

The office also accepts cash, checks, and partial payments on current taxes. The county's former CountyPay portal is closed; the collector's Pay Taxes button now opens the ArkansasTaxSearch application for White County. Personal property tax must be cleared with or before real estate tax, and tax bills run from March 1 through October 15, as covered in the Arkansas property tax due date guide.

How to look up a White County parcel and its tax

White County keeps two systems: ARCountyData for assessment records and the collector's ArkansasTaxSearch application for tax bills and receipts.

  1. Open the White County real estate search on ARCountyData, sponsored by the assessor, and search by owner, address or parcel number.
  2. Check the market value and assessed value, then note the school district and city. Those fields select your row in the millage table on this page.
  3. For personal property, use the same system or call the personal property desk at (501) 279-6205.
  4. Switch to the collector's ArkansasTaxSearch application for the current bill, and have your Taxpayer ID from your statement handy.
  5. Call the real estate desk at (501) 279-6208 for reappraisal or valuation questions.

ARCountyData reported roughly 133,434 parcels for White County, with assessor data refreshed in February 2025.

Paying White County property taxes

White County taxes are payable March 1 through October 15, and the collector no longer accepts a postmark date. After October 15, penalties apply and the account is delinquent.

  • Online: card payments through the collector's ArkansasTaxSearch link; the former CountyPay portal is closed.
  • In person: 115 West Arch Avenue, Searcy, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a. m. to 4:30 p. m.
  • Wallets and cash: Venmo, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted, and the collector provides a QR code for cash payments at Walmart, Dollar General or Walgreens.
  • Partial payments: accepted on current taxes.

White County is one of the few counties on this site that documents wallet and retail cash options, so check the collector's page for the current QR link before the season closes. Personal property must be paid with or before real estate tax. Payment method details across the state are in paying Arkansas property taxes online, and the collector's office can confirm season limits at (501) 279-6206.

Appealing a White County assessment

Start with the assessor's real estate desk at (501) 279-6208, which can review the property record card and explain the value. The county clerk, Carla Barnett, serves as secretary to the White County Equalization Board, and her office is the filing route for a formal appeal.

  • File with the Board of Equalization by the third Monday in August, the statewide deadline under Ark. Code 26-27-317.
  • The board hears appeals beginning no later than the second Monday in August.
  • Evidence: comparable property record cards and sale prices carry the most weight, and material evidence must be shared with the assessor at least five business days before the hearing.
  • The board must issue a written decision within ten business days, and further review goes to county court.

Contact the clerk's office at (501) 279-6204. The full walkthrough is in the property tax appeal guide and in how to appeal a property tax assessment in Arkansas.

Nothing in this section feeds the calculator; it exists for context. Surveyed bills run below full-rate figures: the median value multiplied by the 20 percent ratio and the 43.42 mill average implies about $1,421, against a surveyed median of $754. Amendment 79 caps, the districts where median-priced parcels sit, and the mix of rural parcels explain much of the gap. The effective rate guide explains why bills as a share of value differ from the headline millage.
