Greene Property Tax Calculator
Rate basis: Arkansas DFA Assessment Coordination Division, 2025 Millage Report (2026 Collections), issued March 2026.
How Greene County property taxes are calculated
Arkansas assesses real property at 20% of market value. Greene County then applies the total millage for the parcel's school district and city, where one mill equals $1 of tax per $1,000 of assessed value. The $600 homestead credit comes off last, and only a qualifying primary residence can claim it.
Here is the working for a $175,000 home inside Paragould, where the Greene County Tech district and Paragould's own district both reach the city and the higher of the two applies at 46.02 mills for 2026 collections:
- $175,000 market value times 20% equals $35,000 assessed value.
- $35,000 times 46.02 divided by 1,000 equals $1,610.70 tax before credit.
- Subtract the $600 homestead credit to reach $1,010.70 estimated annual tax.
Two Paragould addresses can therefore differ depending on which district they fall in. Inside Greene County Tech the city rate of 2.8 mills produces 45.89 mills, while inside the Paragould district the same city rate produces 46.02. The county average of 44.31 mills sits below both, and it is a starting point rather than a final figure.
Greene County millage rates by district and city
Greene County publishes ten taxing combinations for 2026 collections, built from four school districts and five levying cities and towns. Unlike most Arkansas counties, the Paragould city levy appears inside two different school districts, which is why the town shows two separate overall rates below.
| School district | City or area | School | City | County | Overall |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Marmaduke #C-2 | Rural | 34.1 | 0 | 5.6 | 39.7 |
| Marmaduke #C-2 | Lafe | 34.1 | 1.3 | 5.6 | 41.0 |
| Marmaduke #C-2 | Marmaduke | 34.1 | 2.3 | 5.6 | 42.0 |
| Greene County Tech | Rural | 37.49 | 0 | 5.6 | 43.09 |
| Paragould #S-1 | Rural | 37.62 | 0 | 5.6 | 43.22 |
| Oak Grove Heights | Oak Grove Heights | 37.62 | 2 | 5.6 | 45.22 |
| Greene County Tech | Delaplaine | 37.49 | 2.8 | 5.6 | 45.89 |
| Greene County Tech | Paragould | 37.49 | 2.8 | 5.6 | 45.89 |
| Paragould #S-1 | Paragould | 37.62 | 2.8 | 5.6 | 46.02 |
| Rector (Clay Cty) #41 | Rural | 45.49 | 0 | 5.6 | 51.09 |
| County average | 37.31 | 2.33 | 5.60 | 44.31 |
Rows taken from the Arkansas DFA Assessment Coordination Division 2025 Millage Report, covering 2026 collections and issued March 2026. The Oak Grove Heights row sits in the Paragould #S-1 district, so its district label and its city name differ.
Why Greene County tax bills differ by address
Greene County's published rates run 11.39 mills from cheapest to dearest, the second widest range in this group, and the causes are unusually clean to trace.
- Paragould sits inside two school districts. This is the county's most useful fact for a homeowner. Part of the city is served by the Greene County Tech district and part by the Paragould #S-1 district, and those districts levy 37.49 and 37.62 school mills. Paragould's own 2.8 mill city rate applies in both, so a Paragould address pays 45.89 or 46.02 mills depending on the district line. The gap is small, 0.13 mills, but it means two neighbours on the same street can be billed at different rates.
- Marmaduke #C-2 is the cheapest district in the county. Its 34.1 school mills are the lowest of the four, and its rural tier at 39.7 mills is the cheapest rate published anywhere in Greene County. Lafe adds 1.3 mills for 41.0, and Marmaduke town adds 2.3 for 42.0.
- Rector is nearly 7 mills above everything else. The Rector (Clay Cty) #41 district levies 45.49 school mills, the highest rate in the county and 7.87 mills above the next highest district. It appears only as a rural row in the report, and at 51.09 mills it is the dearest rate in Greene County by a margin of nearly 5 mills over the next entry.
- Oak Grove Heights is a district row and a city row at once. The town levies a 2 mill city rate, but it sits inside the Paragould #S-1 district rather than having a district of its own, producing 45.22 mills. That is 1.33 mills below Paragould city in the same district, purely because Oak Grove Heights charges 2 mills against Paragould's 2.8.
- Delaplaine pays the same city rate as Paragould. Both levy 2.8 mills, but Delaplaine sits inside the Greene County Tech district, so its total is 45.89 against Paragould's 46.02 in the Paragould district. The two cities are otherwise identical in tax terms.
Greene County's county levy, unlike Benton or Lonoke, is a flat 5.6 mills on every row with no variation at all, so every difference in this county comes from the school district and the city.
Paragould, Marmaduke, Delaplaine and the rest of Greene County
Paragould
Paragould is the county seat and by far the largest city in Greene County, and it is the only city in this group that sits inside two school districts. A Paragould address in the Greene County Tech district pays 45.89 mills, and one in the Paragould #S-1 district pays 46.02. The city itself levies 2.8 mills, made up of 2.4 mills general and 0.4 for fire. The Greene County courthouse at 320 West Court Street holds the assessor in Room 101 and the collector on the same block.
Marmaduke, Lafe and Oak Grove Heights
Marmaduke is the cheapest town in the county at 42.0 mills, because the Marmaduke #C-2 district levies 34.1 school mills against 37.49 and 37.62 elsewhere. Lafe, in the same district, levies 1.3 mills, the lowest city rate in Greene County, for 41.0 mills. Oak Grove Heights carries a 2 mill city rate inside the Paragould #S-1 district, producing 45.22 mills.
Delaplaine
Delaplaine levies 2.8 mills, matching Paragould's city rate exactly, but sits in the Greene County Tech district, so the total is 45.89 mills rather than 46.02. The town's school district is itself the product of a merger: Delaplaine #C-7 consolidated with Technical #T-1 to form Greene Co. Tech #1.
The rural tiers and the Rector fringe
Outside the towns, Greene County has four rural rates: Marmaduke #C-2 at 39.7, Greene County Tech at 43.09, Paragould #S-1 at 43.22 and Rector at 51.09. The Rector district is administered from Clay County and fringes into Greene, and its 45.49 school mills put its rural tier above every city rate in the county. A Greene County parcel in that fringe pays more than a Paragould city address by 5.07 mills.
Greene County Assessor
Official name: Greene County Assessor's Office. The assessor appraises and assesses all real and personal property in the county between January 1 and May 31 each year, covering personal and business property, residential real estate and commercial real estate. The office administers the homestead credit. Payment is the collector's job.
Greene County's assessor page is one of the more complete in the state, and it publishes its own answers to questions residents actually ask. It confirms that the assessor must give notice and an opportunity to appeal whenever it reassesses a property or increases a value, and it states that proof of homestead eligibility must be registered with the assessor on or before October 15 of the year after the assessment. The office also runs three separate online routes: a free real estate map, personal property assessment, and a dedicated business personal property portal.

Greene County Collector
Official name: Greene County Tax Collector's Office. The collector provides tax information to taxpayers and title companies including amounts, values, millage and exemption data, bills and collects the taxes, and does not set values. The office is also where property card copies come from.
Greene County is unusual in accepting card payments by phone as well as online and at the counter, and it publishes a delinquency rule most counties do not: the penalty is 10% on personal property with no added fee, but 10% plus a daily fee on real estate. That distinction makes it worth clearing a delinquent real estate balance quickly rather than letting it sit.

How to look up a Greene County parcel and its tax
Greene County runs its public tax search on its own system, not the ARCountyData platform used by many Arkansas counties. The collector also sponsors a separate public search on ARCountyData for tax records and receipts, so both routes work and they answer different questions.
- For billing, payment and parcel lookup, start with the Greene County public application at arkansastaxsearch.com. The collector's office links to it directly for both search and payment, and it accepts a parcel number, a name and address, or just the amount due.
- The result list flags an online pay status and any dependencies attached to the parcel. Read the dependencies column before paying: in Arkansas a collector cannot accept real estate tax while personal property tax on the same owner is outstanding, and this is the field that shows it.
- For assessed values, ownership and legal descriptions, use the free real estate search the assessor provides through ActDataScout. Match the market value against the assessed value and confirm they track at the 20% ratio unless an Amendment 79 cap or a freeze applies.
- Note the school district code shown on the record. Greene County's district codes are not sequential, and the Paragould district split means the code, not the street address, is what determines whether you are billed at 45.89 or 46.02 mills.
- For receipts and prior-year payment history, use the ARCountyData Greene County collector search, which the collector sponsors as a free public search and which indexes back through earlier tax years.
Business personal property is assessed separately from personal property in Greene County, through a dedicated portal rather than the general assessment page. The county mails forms each January to businesses that assessed the previous year.

Paying Greene County property taxes
Greene County taxes are due the first working day in March and become past due after October 15. The collector is explicit that current taxes cannot be paid before the books open on March 1, and that until then only delinquent balances can be accepted.
- Online: through the collector's payment site at arkansastaxsearch.com/mobile/greene/. A service fee is applied to all card transactions.
- By phone: Greene County is one of the counties in this group that accepts card payments over the phone, with the same company convenience fee.
- At the counter: the collector's office at 320 West Court St. in Paragould, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. Cards are accepted here too.
- By mail: to the collector's office at the courthouse address. Personal and real estate taxes must be paid by October 15 of each year for the previous tax year.
- Partial payments: Greene County accepts partial payments on current taxes only.
Two consequences follow from non-payment beyond the penalty. The county notes that if taxes are not paid, license tags cannot be renewed, and it publishes a sharper rule for delinquency on real estate than on personal property: 10% plus a daily fee on real estate against a flat 10% on personal. Homestead credit in Greene County
Arkansas's homestead credit reduces the property tax on a qualifying primary residence. Greene County residents apply through the assessor's office, and the county publishes the rule in statutory terms: proof of eligibility must be registered with the county assessor on or before October 15 of the year after the assessment.
The maximum is $600 on a 2026 tax bill under Act 330 of 2025, rising to $675 on a 2027 bill under HB1103, signed in May 2026 as Act 174 of 2026. Greene County's assessor page already quotes the $675 figure, which is the 2027 bill rather than the one modelled here. This calculator uses $600 for a 2026 bill, and the county's page also notes that you may claim only one credit per household. Filing steps are in how to apply for the Arkansas homestead credit.
Greene County also documents the Amendment 79 protections in plain terms: assessment increases are capped at 5% a year for primary residences and 10% for other properties, and the taxable value of a home owned by someone 65 or older or 100% disabled is frozen, though the county notes that a millage rate increase or substantial improvements can still raise the bill. The county applies the statutory definition of disabled, which covers Social Security disability, a permanently and totally disabled veteran, or permanent and total disability insurance benefits received during the calendar year. Appealing a Greene County assessment
Start with the assessor. Greene County's own published answer is that the assessor must give a taxpayer notice and an opportunity to appeal whenever it reassesses a property or increases a value, citing Arkansas Code 26-26-910, 26-26-1307, 26-26-1308 and 26-23-203. That notice is the trigger, and most disputes close informally once the record card is checked.
The formal route is the Greene County Board of Equalization, and this county publishes a named contact for scheduling.
- First contact: Greene County Assessor's Office, (870) 239-6303
- Board contact: Greene County Clerk Phyllis Rhynes, (870) 239-6311, [email protected]
- Schedule by: Monday, August 18, 2026, the county's published cut-off for booking an appointment with the board
- Board sessions: the board convenes August 1 and considers property owner cases until October 1
- Where to file: Greene County Clerk, 320 West Court Street, Suite 102, Paragould, AR 72450
- Onward route: a petition to the county court is filed with the county clerk by the second Monday in October, and the county judge hears it by November 15
The board's stated purpose is to ensure that county property assessment practices are equal and uniform, which is the standard to argue against. The evidence sequence is set in state law: the assessor presents the basis for the value first, you present yours, and the assessor may rebut. Material evidence not given to the assessor at least five days before the hearing can be excluded. Greene County property tax examples
These examples use the Greene County average of 44.31 mills for 2026 collections with the $600 homestead credit applied. They are estimates: your parcel sits in one of ten combinations running from 39.7 to 51.09 mills.
| Market value | Assessed at 20% | Tax before credit | After $600 credit | Monthly |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $100,000 | $20,000 | $886 | $286 | $23.85 |
| $169,300 (county median) | $33,860 | $1,500 | $900 | $75.03 |
| $250,000 | $50,000 | $2,216 | $1,616 | $134.63 |
| $400,000 | $80,000 | $3,545 | $2,945 | $245.40 |
| $500,000 | $100,000 | $4,431 | $3,831 | $319.25 |
Calculated at the 44.31 mill Greene County average for 2026 collections. Each row applies one $600 credit for a qualifying primary residence.
Greene County median home value and median tax
Historical and statistical comparison only. None of this feeds the calculator, and none of it describes an individual parcel.
Greene County sits in the middle of this group on every measure: the second highest population at 46,432, a median home value of $169,300, and an effective rate of 0.48% that is above Randolph and Madison but below Poinsett and Lonoke. At the 44.31 mill average, a $169,300 home would imply about $1,500 before the credit against a surveyed median of $819, a smaller proportional gap than the other counties here, which fits a county where a larger share of parcels sit in the two mid-range Paragould district combinations rather than at either extreme of the range.
